I wrote about Tyrone Stevenson Scraper Bike Kind who was at Maker Faire last year. Today I found another inspirational video about scraper bikes, which talks about the philosophy behind the movement and the positive affect it has on kids in the Oakland area. Below are the requirements for becoming a member of the Original Scraper Bike Team.

"In order to become a member of the Original Scraper Bike Team, you must: Be a resident of Oakland, CA. Be at least 7y/o or older. Retain A 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), Create your own Scraper Bike…(It Has To Be Amazing, Or Else You Can’t Ride.) A single-file line when riding. After 10 rides The Scraper Bike King and his Captains will decide if your bike is up to standards and if you can follow simple guidelines. After your evaluation we will consider you a member and honor you with an Original Scraper Bike Team Shirt. Only worn when Mobbin’ Stay posted to our website for all upcoming Scraper Bike Rides..." -- The Scraper Bike King

Bikes with Shoes

Bikes with shoes instead of tires is definitely a better alternative to using bike tires which need air and tend to go flat. All you need is a bunch of shoes and you are good to go, oh and a helmet would be good as well.

Flamingo Art Cars and Bikes Take Off

I've always thought it would be great to cover a car in pink flamingos so this is the next best thing for me, blog entry filled with flamingo cars and bikes. Its also funny to me how different each art car is from each other, ranging from mounted flamingos to painted flamingos. I like this first one, with a few flamingos mounted high up on poles on a jet black car, very striking(sorry no more drive through for you). I also included an art car with a wanted sign asking people for flamingos to take his current art car to the next level. And lets not forget the flamingo art bikes. The knitted motorcycle "cozy" was created by Washington DC artist Theresa HoneywellI assume for long chilly night rides. Her artwork series is titled KNIT!, and Theresa uses the traditionally feminine mediums of knitting to embellish "macho" subjects such as a motorcycle and a jackhammer.

This is the kind of car you can get cozy with on cold winter nights. The paint job will last forever and you don't have to worry about finding your car in the mall.

Art Car with Plenty Of Trunk Space

Gregory Beylerian is the creator of this 1968 Volvo that was initially supposed to be race car. A couple of years later he found all these elephants in the trash near a toy factory in downtown L.A. and that is when he decided to rescue and recycle so he covered his car in about 100 stuffed pachyderms–he also added graffiti-style decorative paint, and his life has been a circus ever since. That is what I call wildlife conservation.
