I just came across this video of him riding his latest Santa Car that gives you a glimpse into what its like riding an art car around town. I know its Summer time but I needed cheering up today so Brian's Santa Art Car is just what the doctor ordered.

Lynda Farley is the creator of the Liberty van, and doing her part to creatively express her First Amendment Rights. Lynda believes in the rights of smokers to be able to smoke anywhere at anytime. She also believes that smoking dangers are a total myth perpetuated by "those" who are lying to us about the whole thing. She has taken pictures of her car in front every statehouse in the lower 48. She hopes to repeal smoking bans across the nation, restore our constitution, and get the word out on the smoking "hoax". Today I found another inspirational video about scraper bikes, which talks about the philosophy behind the movement and the positive affect it has on kids in the Oakland area. Bikes with shoes instead of tires is definitely a better alternative to using bike tires which need air and tend to go flat. All you need is a bunch of shoes and you are good to go, oh and a helmet would be good as well.

The Many Faces of the Solar Chariot

I have seen this solar chariot in many outfits during the past three years at Maker Fair first as George Bush the "American Gladiator", then Arnold Schwarzenegger as the "Solinator" and last year as Barack Obama as the "Obama Bot". I am sure I will be seeing the solar chariot again this year as who knows what.

Bob Schneeveis has a science and engineering associate at Stanford’s department of neurobiology, and is responsible for building this robot charioteer to test out the efficiency of legs versus wheels. The experiment was successful, as the charioteer moves alarmingly fast, with emanating metallic chunking noises that you’d expect from a robotic biped. Bob charges his charioteer using solar panels along with his other vehicle a sparrow that he uses to go about his daily business.

New Car + Vintage Parts + Genius + Steve Heller = Heller on Wheels

I wrote about Steven Heller some time ago when I featured his 1960 Cadillac Fin Attaché Case. He has spent many years building furniture out of vintage cars parts and now his journey heads off in a new direction. Most people who restore old cars stick with old cars, but Steve modifies new cars and adds vintage car parts like fins, grills and other accessories from cars made in the 50's and 60's. Steven has been busy building and receiving awards for his work and is working towards his TV show, Heller on Wheels. His has an amazing passion for what he does and says in his video that he was put on earth to build custom cars and rocket ships. I am looking forward to seing his new creation the Cro-Magnum.

Take a 2006 Dodge Magnum and add 25 1950's car parts to it and what do you get? The "Cro-Magnum!" It was started in March of 2009 and will be finished in the spring of 2010. It is really cool and will be entered into several of the most important auto shows. This car is featured in the promo and the build will be featured in the season 1 series.

Winner of the 2009 New York Times Award for Collectible Car of the Year. This started out as a 2004 Mercury Marquis. Steve customized it using 22 1950's car parts and it was later purchased by a collector who lives in California. The car will be in the Grand National Roadster Show this January, 2010 in Pomona, California and will also be at the Sacramento Auto-Rama in February, 2010. It will be featured in season 1 of the show.

Easy A Team Art Car Project

The new A Team movie is coming out in June and with it will follow another wave of home made A Team vans. What's great about this particular art car project is that its easy to make and all you need is a black vehicle to start with. The only painting you have to do is the red stripe down the side and all you have to worry about is getting the angle right at the elbow, easy peasy.

This Urban Trash Art Car is brought to you by Urban Trash Art that I found via my new ACC central follower Rodrigo Machado who posted it on his blog. Not really a street legal art car due to the lack of any front or side impact safety zones. But it is a good use of trash and these guys go around Brazil and reconstruct trash into these amazing sculptures. I guess that means there is a lot of trash laying around Brazil. Nice work guys!!! Techno Jeep Music Art Car by Julian Smith

This amazing Techno Jeep video has got to be the first art car music piece I have ever seen and it came from Julian Smith.tv. Julian and his friends use ACTUAL sounds from a Jeep by mics to pick up the various sound elements. The sounds are then fed into sound board, recorded and then looped back to create the techno sound in this video (I think that's how it works). It took about two weeks to rehearsal and 7 hours of filming resulting in a video worthy of mention here on art car central

The Santa Cruz Film Festival VIII Worlds Fastest Art Car in the Making-David Best & Crew

I found this posted on facebook today and is a great way to see and art car in the making with time lapse video. Most people take weeks and even years to build their art cars. David Best with a team of people can take three days to build his cars. In this video they took one day to build the "worlds fastest art car". I don't know, I think I have seen faster but the end result is simply stunning. Here is the YouTube description of this video.

On Thursday, May 14, 2009 artist David Best and a team of art car creators beat and beaded a Miata into a masterpiece. The creation of the "world's fastest art car" at The Tannery Arts Center was completed in 14 hours by David Best and SCFF volunteers. This collaborative event was illuminated by our friends at Photoflex and filmed as a time lapse short by Peter McGettigan and Ed Schehl. The film screened alongside Harrod Blank's Automorphosis at the closing night festivities on Friday, May 15, 2009
